Clinical Services

Youth who are referred to the Juvenile Division typically have a variety of behavior and mental health issues which need addressed. Correctly assessing the needs of youth is a critical component of the Division’s work as it guides the decision-making process related to the services and resources kids need to be successful.

The Clinical Services Unit is headed by the clinical director who works under the direction of the Chief Juvenile Officer. The clinical director develops, implements, and oversees the use of assessments conducted by the Division. Additionally, the Clinical Director facilitates a variety of groups which address time management, cognitive development, and anger management to name a few. The clinical director also makes recommendations concerning youth being considered for commitment to the division of youth services, evaluates programs being introduced to the center, oversees the Alternative School, and supervises liaisons assigned to Achievement Court.
